I saw Garrick Huscared last evening, the local artist and actor who is working on the new bust of Shakespeare, featured here a few weeks ago.
As well as the new bust, he’s also making what’s turning out to be a star-studded film about the making of the original bust in Holy Trinity Church. It’s being filmed in and around Stratford-upon-Avon and quite a few well known actors have agreed to take part.
In the meantime, and to whet the appetite, he showed me this film he made in 2009. It’s a song written by Adrian Styles and features many familiar Stratford-upon-Avon locations that you might recognise, or would like to see (including, for example, The Dirty Duck’s landlord, Sam, the churchyard, the chain ferry, the inside of The Courtyard Theatre, and, of course, Shakespeare’s Birthplace).
Look out for Garrick as Shakespeare, and also for actors David Bradley (from the Harry Potter films) and Bill Maynard (in his nightshirt!). Perhaps you’ll see other people you’ll recognise, too… Sir Ian Mckellen, for instance, and special guest appearance by Anne Hathaway.
Anyway, the result has a charm all of its own! Hope you enjoy it.
