With this in mind – and alongside the Olympics – I thought I’d run a short season of video posts of interviews taken during my visits to Shakespeare conferences in Rumania and Serbia back in May.
I met some wonderful people who are passionate about their special Shakespearian interests. I hope you enjoy hearing from them.
I begin with Dr Octavian Saiu, who has published on Shakespeare and modern drama. He’s a energising force within the Craiova Shakespeare Festival, as well as being a tutor and guest lecturer at the University of Otago in New Zealand. He is also an Associate Professor at the National University of Theatre and Cinematography (NUTC) in Bucharest.
Find out more about Octavian’s fascinating book about theatre In Search of Lost Space (2011), by clicking here.
The Craiova Shakespeare Festival is one of the eight (so far) which form part of the European Shakespeare Festivals network. Since 2006 it’s taken place every two years and you can find out more about it by clicking here.
