Olympics Without Shakespeare?

On my way to see The Duchess of Malfi yesterday, I called into The National Theatre and found myself looking at the Festival! exhibition: scores of photographs of different kinds of festivals from all over the world, religious, secular, theatrical, operatic, sporting, musical…

Gorgeous photographs, too.

And together they illustrate a compelling context for the Olympic Games (or should that be London 2012?).

But where was Shakespeare?

Have a listen to this audioboo…

Festival! runs until 4 June. Photos are made available by Corbis.
