On Saturday 30 November, The British Shakespeare Association pays tribute to two excellent and contrasting Shakespeare scholars by making them Honorary Fellows: Professors Terence Hawkes and Stanley Wells.
There will be a special gathering here at The Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street from 10.00am during which a series of short talks and reflections on both Terry’s and Stanley’s work, careers, and contributions to Shakespearian scholarship will be given by Susan Bassnett, Ewan Fernie, John Jowett and Carol Rutter. The afternoon includes a panel discussion and then the proceedings close for a special celebratory cake and glasses of sparkling at about 3.30pm. All are welcome to attend. Admission is £5.00 to help cover costs and, so that we can have an idea about attendance it would be helpful if you could drop a line to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The day itself concludes with the AGM of The British Shakespeare Association.
I hope to see some of you there!
